Steve Killen

Hi, I'm a nerd. :) I write, and sometimes I publish those writings on my blog, Pursuing Calefaction. More often I'll write trivia here. It's a way to fight my ferocious ADHD. Hey, it works. (Sort of.)

My /Chores. (No, you don't get to see them. They're boring.)

I last bit my fingernails on Nov 12th, 2008. (That's right, I haven't bitten my nails in over 1.5 years.)

Crazy ideas I come up with

  • A frisk (or whatever) board display server with a handheld API that hooks up to a projector suspended over a table surface!
  • An Appalachian Trail wiki (really? Nobody's thought to do this yet?) Well, there's http://www.walkipedia.org/.

Crap I need to do

  • Change the oil in the

    /AluminumFalcon

  • Fix my damned wiki

    • Design a more comprehensive security policy
    • Upgrade to 1.8 (9?) -- and detail steps taken for HCoop users
  • Color2 Examples : [[Color2(red,blue,18px courier,Hello World!)]], [[Color2(#8844AA:Hello World!)]]
    - specifies color, background color, and/or font (can be separated with "," or ":")

  • Get new tires:
  • Recover data from a stack of old hard drives

  • Consolidate my data so that most of it is accessible to me via HCoop

    • Then set up afsclient on my machines
    • maybe write an easy script to install on new computers
  • Set up iFuse so I can access my iPod Touch in Linux

    • Jailbreak my iPod?
  • Take the rest of my hardware to the electronics recycling depot

  • Reseal my hiking boots (Shoe Goo: $7)
  • Decide on an itinerary for my Perseids backpacker

  • Start looking for teaching jobs
    • Build up my resume
  • Prep next War of the Ring board for play

  • Upgrade freya to a better version of

Eeebuntu -- in process: downloading EB4 via torrent.

Reading list

  • the Silmarillion
  • Orthodoxy (GK Chesterton)

  • Death on a Friday Afternooon (Neuhaus)
  • Pride & Prejudice

  • Jennifer Government
  • Gods Behaving Badly (Phillips)
  • Alcestis (Beutner)

Projects on the back burner
