Perseids were awesome this year. I headed up to Mount Mitchell, and the sky miraculously cleared around 11pm. Up I hiked with my sleeping bag & a wool blanket, and I rested on the stone benches at the summit (6,684' up, mind you) and watched the skies rain down. A passing cloud scared me back down, lest I become a lightning rod, but I spent the rest of the night taking in the show from my camp. With the aproach of dawn I jackrabbited back up the mountain in the nick of time to catch the sunrise!
Glorious. Photos to come.
