I (Ted) am currently free at this time...but since I don't have a job yet I don't know whether I'll be in the midst of a move, or already teaching, or crying into a depression pizza.

Perseids watching!

The idea for this would be to rent a beach house with modern amenities for a couple nights surrounding the peak of the Perseids.

  • Pro #1: Ted is ok with this. Oceans are good in the summer.
  • Con #1: Currently unknown location--need to do research. Beach houses are pricey on-peak (as Aug 12–13).

Or a mountain house!

  • Pro #1: SteveKillen knows the Burnsville area pretty well, can be a good local-attractions guide. (Ted is also ok with this.)

  • Con #1: We'd probably need to reserve a few months in advance.

The peak of the Perseids is August 12th-13th, Sunday night into Monday morning. So it'd be a good 3- or 4-day weekend opportunity if you were into that.
